MSc Pengfei Lu successfully defended his PhD thesis "Cardiomyocyte Communication for Heart Applications" at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo on March 4, 2021.
In his thesis he investigated and established a novel strategy for energy efficient stimulation (pacing) and digital data transfer (cell-to-cell communication) using cardiomyocytes, which could be consider for the development of biological pacemakers.
The PhD assessment committee consisted of Professor Robert Schober, Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany, Senior Researcher Valeria Loscri, Inria Lille-Nord Europe, France, and Professor Farrukh Abbas Chaudhry, Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, University of Oslo.
Pengfei Lu was supervised by Professor Ilangko Balasingham, Professor Erik Fosse, Professor Per Steinar Halvorsen, and Dr. Jacob Bergsland at the Intervention Centre, Oslo University Hospital.
